Roofing
All aspects of roofing including tiling, slating, flat roofs, felting and lead work. Our service offers a complete range of roofing services, from the replacement and repair of slated and tiled roofs to the reconstruction of flat roofs.
Slate Roofing
From natural slate to man made slates, slate is particularly suitable as a roofing material as it has an
extremely low water absorption index of less than 0.4%. Its low
tendency to absorb water also makes it very resistant to frost
damage and breakage due to freezing.
Slate roof tiles are usually fixed using either nail fixing, or the
hook fixing method as is common with Spanish slate.
Tile Roofing
A tile is a manufactured piece of hard-wearing material. Roof tiles
are designed mainly to keep out rain, and are traditionally made
from locally available materials such as clay or slate. Modern
materials such as concrete and plastic are also used and some clay
tiles have a waterproof glaze. A large number of shapes (or
"profiles") of roof tiles have evolved.
A flat roof is the most cost-efficient roof shape as all room space
can be used fully (below and above the roof) and as this roof allows
easy revision/placement of solar panels.
Monitoring of flat roofs is important and it is recommended they are
checked twice a year, preferably in the spring and autumn. Correct diagnosis and its
prompt repair will save money by prolonging the life of a roofing
system. Repair punctures, open seams, worn coatings, failed
flashings and other problems before serious leaks develop.
We can undertake any size contract, be it new roofing or re-roofing.
